Scottish legal firm Brodies has created six new partners following a round of promotions and also appointed a new chief financial officer.
Real estate lawyers Jenna Monteith, David Bales and Rory Forbes have been made partners alongside Solicitor Advocate and disputes lawyer David Ford, and personal and family lawyers Victoria Varty and Garry Sturrock.
The partner promotions and recent appointment of top-ranked criminal lawyer, Neil Hay, means that Brodies LLP now has more than 120 partners. The firm’s headcount has also grown to 950 colleagues including partners, based across its Leeds, London and four Scottish offices.
Brodies managing partner, Stephen Goldie said: “Jenna, David, Rory, David, Victoria and Garry are exceptional lawyers who combine technical legal excellence with exemplary client focus and care. Their promotions will add further strength and depth to our firm’s partnership.”
Meanwhile Jonathan Lee has been appointed as chief financial officer and will join the operational leadership team. Lee has two decades of experience in financial services. Prior to joining the firm, he was director of finance and investment operations at Aviva plc and has also held senior finance roles at Standard Life and M&G/Prudential. A chartered accountant and with an MBA from the University of Edinburgh, Jonathan Lee specialises in leading complex finance functions to drive operational excellence and support strategic growth.
Jonathan Lee said: “As a prominent UK law firm with an ambitious growth strategy Brodies is not prepared to stand still. I am looking forward to working with the firm’s boards and partners to deliver its plans and the opportunity to work with exceptional people across both its legal and business services teams.”
Stephen Goldie adds: “Our leadership team will benefit from Jonathan’s experience, and we look forward to his contribution as we continue to deliver the plans set out in our strategic review. That someone of Jonathan’s calibre chooses Brodies, combined with the quality of our newly promoted partners, reinforces the ability of our firm to attract and develop outstanding talent. We wish them all well in their new roles and look forward to their contribution.”
