A slew of high-profile deals has helped one of Scotland’s leading legal firms turn in a healthy 20 per cent rise in profits. Shepherd and Wedderburn has reported a 10 per cent increase in turnover to £78.3m and a 20 per cent rise in net profits to £36.1m for the year ending 30 April 2025.
Shepherd and Wedderburn has advised on a range of transactions including: advising AviAlliance on its £1.53bn acquisition of AGS Airports, the owner of Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Southampton airports; acting for the Scottish National Investment Bank on various investments into Subsea Micropiles, iGii, ForEV and Orbex; advising Canadian Solar, a battery energy storage systems firm, on the 500MW Coalburn 1 Battery Storage Project, in South Lanarkshire; and acting on behalf of British Land on the acquisitions of retail parks in Kilmarnock and Inverness.
Furthermore, the independent Scottish-headquartered UK law firm, with its offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, London and Dublin, has acted for LondonMetric Property on Scottish real estate in its merger with LXI REIT plc; also acted for Chicago-based S2G Ventures as an investor in Inverkeithing-based Intelligent Growth Solutions, a developer and supplier of advanced vertical farming systems and technology, and advised Atrato Onsite Energy on the Scottish aspects of a £250m asset backed security financing.
The figures mark the fifth consecutive year of revenue and profit growth, reflecting the firm’s sustained momentum and focus on its strategic priorities.

During the year, Shepherd and Wedderburn has welcomed five new partners, including Craig Whelton, Claire MacLean, Graham Young, Tricia Walker and Andrew Knight, and recently promoted Gavin Charlton to partner in the employee share incentives team. In addition, the firm promoted Pamela Binnie (Real Estate and Infrastructure) and Roddy Forgie (Media and Technology) to Legal Director.
A bonus of 5% of annual salary will be paid to employees with individual performance bonuses. The firm’s commitment to workplace culture was recognised at The Herald Top Employer Awards, where Shepherd and Wedderburn received two accolades: Top Employer of the Year in the Medium Business category (250–1000 Employees) and the Best Diversity and Inclusion Dynamic in the Workplace award.
